Twenty-five years ago, Dr. Noel Woodroffe and Mr. Graham Taylor, leaders of Elijah Centre, had a vision to create a sanctuary where learning was grounded in the values of the Kingdom of God. NorthGate College was designed to produce young people who would not only excel academically but would be completely equipped to stand firmly against the chaos and corruption of the world. This institution has grown into a global force, shaping students with the identity, capacity, and values needed to overcome challenges. The students do not just exist but thrive while honoring God in every aspect of life.
This year’s graduation showcased the principle of the ‘seed and harvest’ – that which is sown grows successfully into a bountiful harvest from which new seeds ensure a sustainable legacy. The entire graduation proceeding was a testament to this principle. The presence of the first director, Mrs. Cecile Taylor, who passed the baton to current director Ms. Yolande La Pierre who has nurtured and expanded the college’s vision to the feature address by a past student Mrs. Janelle Woodroffe-Mark from the inaugural year beautifully demonstrated the fruits of NorthGate’s mission. It was evident from Mrs Woodroffe-Marks’ address, that her life, marked by success and integrity, stands as a harvest from the seeds planted decades ago. Her words inspired this year’s graduates to carry forward this legacy of excellence and purpose.
At the heart of NorthGate College’s success is its remarkable staff, whom Director La Pierre described as “the best staff in the world.” Their dedication and shared commitment have built a community that fosters transformation and growth. As the college continues its journey, it remains steadfast in its mission to impact the world through a relevant and holistic education, sending out graduates equipped to make a difference wherever they go.
